Just in case anyone else is wondering how to send an SMS text message to their AT&T wireless phone via email, the address apparently has changed through their recent acquisitions. Googling around only revealed the prior (non-working) domains, so I had to resort to the AT&T support page.
Horribly worded and a bit confusing as to which category you fall under, if you’ve signed up to “the new at&t” (as opposed to the prior AT&T, Cingular, etc.), your address is 10digitphonenumber@txt.att.net.
Happy texting!
Thanks! Works a treat.
Email to SMS works great. How does the receiver of the SMS answer back to the email of the sender? John
Using email to SMS is generally most valuable for notifications only (I’ve used it before for flight information notifications).
I doubt there’s any standardized method for two-way communication, but in my test with my AT&T phone, I was able to reply (SMS to email) simply by replying to the original text message I recieved. AT&T’s system was smart enough to identify the original sender and send them an email back with my SMS contents.
