Happy New Year

Hope everyone out there has enjoyed the silence found here over the holidays. Yeah, I know… You’re not the first to call me a slacker (and much worse).

Just wanted to wish everyone still paying attention a Happy New Year. Here’s to the new year, may she be a damn sight better than the old one.

I’d actually hoped to get my new theme finished by midnight so I could throw it up in time to welcome in the new year, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen as quickly as I’d like. For those that may be reading this in some random RSS reader, you may want to perk back up and check in sometime in the next week just to see what things look like before we move into Babble 3.0…

Here’s to excitement in ‘07… The decade’s 2/3rds over, and it’s got a long way yet to go!

Worst Problem Report Ever

Got this in my email today at work from a notoriously bitchy person here at work. Gee, wonder why no one can ever get anything fixed quickly enough for her?

I think I may have a problem with my system. It will hardly run today.

Mmmm… Where do I even begin with that one?

Vista Editions Feature Matrix

Found a very useful matrix that actually lists the differences between each Windows Vista edition.

Check it out at Extreme Tech and say goodbye to your Vista edition confusion!

Duke Energy: The Media Temple of the Power Grid

Looks like Media Temple isn’t the only company that can’t keep their “grid” up…

As I write this from my neighbor’s unsecure wireless network, it is 74 degrees outside. Sun shining, pleasant breeze blowing… Conditions don’t get much more ideal than this (particularly for December 1st).

Earlier, the wind was blowing particularly hard, and the power flashed. This time it flashed… and didn’t come back on. If I ever meet the person in charge of the local Duke Energy (Duke Power division) resources, I vow to castrate him with my fucking teeth… I can’t wait for another ice storm like last year. If they can’t keep the power on under these conditions, how will they ever during inclement weather?

As Fark would say… Duke Sucks…

20 Minute Mark
Reported outage at 3:52 via 1-800-POWER-ON. Stealing neighbor’s wireless. Sitting in dark corner, watching laptop’s battery slowly drain…
