Developing a Plugin Architecture for PHP

I got the April, 2006 issue of php|architect last week, and was happily surprised today when I sat down to read it and found an article highlighting one of the features of WordPress I find most facinating and useful - its plugin system.

The article Developing a Plugin Architecture for PHP, by Titus Barik, uses the WordPress plugin system as its example. It’s a particularly well written article that would have made my life a lot easier when I was exploring the innards of WordPress, had it been published several months ago.

If you’re interested, I’d highly recommend buying a copy of the April issue (either in print or convenient PDF form) to check it out. If you’re interested in PHP development, I’d also highly recommend a subscription to php|architect. It’d make a great gift too, I’m sure… :)
