I was checking out my Mint stats for this blog, and noticed that NetNewsWire was less than 1% of the traffic to it, which wasn’t particularly surprising, since I figured I was probably the only reader using it. I randomly decided to check the versions, when I discovered this:
If you’ll notice on the NetNewsWire website, the latest release version is 2.0.1, which I am using and which represents the greatest portion of hits for NNW. Well then, what’s this mysterious version 2.1 that is in use (likely in some bright and sun-filled corner office at the brand-new NewsGator headquarters)?
Back at the beginning of January, Greg said there would be a syncing version of NNW in a few weeks. Looks like there is a syncing version in existence, and it’s being used to read my blog! Quit holding out on me, Greg, I need my groovy new features!! 
Hi Chris — NetNewsWire 2.1 is in private beta testing right now, and we’ll be releasing a public beta as soon as possible. There are some more bugs to fix, but it’s getting close.
Heh, I figured you guys were still working on it (or at least I hoped you were). It’s just funny to see it in my logs before hearing anything about it. I figured you were all just teasing people, trying to get the ‘net talking.
Oh yeah, and thanks for commenting, Brent. I still love it that NewsGator is reading blogs and commenting back on them when customers have questions or problems.

About having it show up in the logs — it’s not meant as a tease! It’s just the straightforward case that there’s a version in testing and the user-agent string reflects the current version.
