Gwen Stefani Pregnant

Wow, seems Gwen Stefani finally got knocked up. Apparently Gavin Rossdale is one insanely lucky (or unfortunate, depending on how you look at it) mother f’er…

The guy that sits across from me at work is going to be heartbroken…

On the plus side, maybe this will keep her from releasing anymore god awful, stab-me-in-the-ear-to-make-it-stop solo albums…

I Can’t Scratch the Itch!

You ever have one of those itches that you just can’t scratch? I just had one on the exact same place on both feet… You name it, it didn’t scratch well enough: fingers, scissors, fork, kitchen knife…nothing!

I finally got myself satisfied by standing on the cement porch and wiggling around, but god was that a rough couple of minutes!

Akismet Plugin Update

Just thought it was about time I let everyone know where we all stand with my Akismet plugin.

I’ve been working on Akismet exclusively for the past two days as I’ve gotten time (as in no other code, not as in I’m not doing real pays-the-bills work every day). At this point, I’m about half way to my next release goal.

Now now, before you get excited, I want to warn everyone that this next release probably won’t include anything terribly exciting for most of you. I’m doing a lot of code re-writing to make things more understandable to me, since I’m the one that has to go in and edit this code. I’m also going to wrap up this email error bug (where it sends email containing the wrong information to the moderator). Other than that, not a whole lot. I want to make some changes to the administration display, but I don’t think those changes will make it into the upcoming version (mainly because I haven’t totally decided what I want to do yet).

In any case, hang in there, because I really am getting things done (albeit a tad slower than I’d like). This whole real job thing is really getting in the way more and more often…

Google Doth Smite Me…

I find it totally insignificant, yet oddly interesting in a “gee, that’s peculiar” kind of way…

I use the Google Toolbar in Firefox, mainly just so I have a convenient Google Suggest-esk search box available whenever I need it. I also glance at the Pagerank indicator from time-to-time, usually when I’m at sites that are popular for me (like FeedLounge. Of course these sites include my blog, just because I’d love to see this site get more readership (how else shall I begin forming the Empire of Meller?).

So I was somewhat surprised when I looked up at the Pagerank indicator just now and saw that I’d dropped from the 5/10 rank I’ve held for over 6 months, down to a 4/10 rank. It’s times like these I wish Google could tell people what the secret mix was. Why was I demoted? I have a feeling it has to do with my rather lengthy breaks as of late, but it’s really just a guessing game to figure out why.

Huh… Welp, something to ponder as I return to my code.

Get Back to Work!

Looks like we’re back up and running! Wahoooo!

Duke flipped the magical gift-of-power switch back at their corporate office just after 8pm (EST) and bestowed upon us joyous laughter and, well, power…

So, now that I’m able to reliably code again, without freezing my fingers off, it’s time for me to get back to my Common User Database project, which is really coming together now. I’ve got all the basic interaction stuff down, now I’m doing some groovy mod_rewrite handling, and actually creating the functions that pass data back and forth from the database.

And let’s not forget Akismet. I think I’ve got the problem with the enhanced plugin narrowed down, and it should be a fairly easy one to fix (hopefully). I also stumbled upon another function in WordPress while I was poking around looking for something totally unrelated the other night, which should clean up some of the code no one ever sees.

Looks like it should be a fun pre-Christmas week! The irony of all this is that I’m fighting to get back to the computer, since we’ve had no power, and Tom is trying to get away from it… Ahh well, I suppose it was all relaxing in its own right, just not the kind of relaxing I generally prefer.

Hope everyone else had a wonderful (and hopefully warm, power-filled) weekend. Let’s try to get back to normal now, folks!
