Just thought I’d let everyone know that we’re still without power after our ice storm last Wednesday and Thursday. Duke Power’s automated system was estimating Tuesday night (Dec 20th after 11:00 pm) to get our power restored, so it could be a while before I’m back…
Right now we’ve got an extension cord pulled through a window from our neighbor’s garage, trying to run at least a few things. The only thing I really can’t do without is hot water. Sure, it sounds like nothing, but after 2 days without a real shower, let’s see how you’re doing…
I do have some pictures to put up, as soon as we get power back and I can actually upload them… I guess I’ll see you guys then.
UPDATE: Just checked the “Duke Power Automated System for Reporting Outages” again (can you tell I could quote you their entire script by now?). They’ve revised it to December 19th at 11pm. Still, I either won’t be going to work tomorrow morning (Monday), or I’ll be at the Holiday Inn tonight so I can take a shower tomorrow morning.
Ugh…
You must be very very cold. Stay warm and keep your electronics safe!
Ice storm? What’s that? :)
Lovely week here coming up - temperatures in the mid 20’s to low 30’s (and that’s Centigrade!).
(wanders off outside to look at the sun… aaahhhhhhhh).
Just rub it in, Cal… Have you ever even seen ice?
Lousy Aussies… They’re worse than those Canadians! Ok, well, almost…
Of course I’ve seen ice!
It comes standard with my Scotch :)
[…] Earlier, the wind was blowing particularly hard, and the power flashed. This time it flashed… and didn’t come back on. If I ever meet the person in charge of the local Duke Energy (Duke Power division) resources, I vow to castrate him with my fucking teeth… I can’t wait for another ice storm like last year. If they can’t keep the power on under these conditions, how will they ever during inclement weather? […]
