Found it thanks to Scoble and Search Engine Watch. Apparently NASA released a new version of their World Wind application, which includes views for the Moon!
Since I’m secretly hiding a Moon fetish from you guys, I had to play with it as soon as I found it. These screenshots certainly do my Moon globe justice…

Wow - how does this compare to Google Earth? Now I have to wait 8 hours before I can get home to download this and try it out!
Damn you Chris and all your interesting posts
Well, I don’t believe World Wind (the Earth version) actually has map data in it. It’s only for looking at cool pictures of the Earth (and now the Moon). Since you’re doing the same thing (panning around a celestial body), the interface and controls are pretty much the same, although I think Google Earth gives you a tad edge.
I don’t believe Google Earth has any moon footage, so in that department, I’m a big fan of NASA… As for Earth footage, I really don’t prefer one over the other. Since I have no use for either on a day-to-day basis, it’s all about the cool features that will keep me interested for 20 minutes. I really have no use for Moon or Earth imagery, but it’s cool to play with for a few minutes.
