Meller’s Best of Chickens!

Welp, after my previous post about having a new personal goal, inspired by the crazy chickens from the Savage Chickens cartoons, I decided to enjoy the archives over there. Along the way, I found so many hilarious cartoons I just had to make a list of my favorites.

So here you go! Meller’s Best of Chickens list:

Another Blogging Service?

I know it’s been about done to death, but I’ve actually considered running a WordPress MU setup on what I think is one of my cooler domains: doesnthaveone.com.

Would anyone be interested in having a blog such as chris.doesnthaveone.com? That’s really the only reason I registered it in the first place, so I could use chris@doesnthaveone.com as my email address and fuck with peoples’ heads.

I realize this is an already crowded market, and I really don’t have the time, energy, or particular desire to create anything special or out of the ordinary for my users, but if anyone would be interested in such a thing, let me know.

Blogroll Moved

My blogroll was getting way too long to be loading every time the main page was pulled up by someone, so I moved it and my other links off to the Blogroll and Links page, which you can get to in the menu at the top, or in the list in the right column.

When I get un-lazy, I’ll actually add some pretty styling to that page, but for right now, it’s an ugly old list. I think you’ll manage. I’m also going to upload a new OPML file as soon as I get a chance, since the current list is much different from the one in my RSS reader.

My Personal Goal

I was reading Savage Chickens today, when I discovered my new personal goal. I am now striving to become the human embodiment of this chicken:

Savage Chickens - The Inner Chicken

I love these chickens. I highly recommend them if you want some off-the-wall chicken humor in your life!

From the Oh-My-God-I-Can’t-Believe-I-Voted-for-Him Department

Welp, I got a WordPress.com invite in my email a little while ago (which I have a feeling was thanks to craig), so of course I jumped on the chance to log in and play around!

One of the cool features is the new Dashboard, which includes a couple variations on the “Hot Blogs Today” list on WordPress.com, including a list of top posts recently. Thanks to it, I found an absolutely wonderful post on SushiGirl’s Other Blog entitled “Moral Question”. Allow me to quote:

This test only has one question, but it’s a very important one. By
giving an honest answer, you will discover where you stand morally. The
test features an unlikely, fictional situation in which you will have to
make a decision.

Remember that your answer needs to be honest, and spontaneous. Please
scroll down slowly and give due consideration to each line.

THE SITUATION

You are in New Orleans, There is chaos all around you caused by a
hurricane with severe flooding. You are photo journalist working for a
major newspaper, and you’re caught in the middle of this epic disaster.

You’re trying to shoot career-making photos. There are houses and people
swirling around you, and disappearing under the water.

===============================================

THE TEST

Suddenly you see a man in the water. He is fighting for his life, trying
not to be taken down with the debris. You move closer. Somehow the man
looks familiar. You suddenly realize who it is. It’s the President,
George W. Bush.

At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him
under forever. You have two options- you can save the life of the
President, or you can shoot a dramatic Pulitzer Prize winning photo,
documenting the death of one of the world’s most famous men.

===============================================

THE QUESTION

Here’s the question, and please give an honest answer…….

Would you select high contrast color film, or would you go with the classic simplicity of black and white?

I played along and slowly scrolled down the page, reading line-by-line… When I got to the end, I was definitely expecting something moving and sincere… Imagine how hilarious I found it when I realized I was mistaken.

Now, I don’t want to turn this into a political debate, but I honestly can’t believe I fucking voted for Bush. What was I thinking? Someone, please tell me that he wasn’t this bad before the last election. I don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep at night if I simply couldn’t see through him…

Welp, good reading over on the WordPress.com blogs. I highly recommend that you skip on over and check them out. I’m sure I’ll be mentioning them some more in the future as I get settled in.
